About this role
We are hiring a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. The position is responsible for conducting and monitoring sleep studies, set up of equipment and patients, training Polysomnographic Technologists, troubleshooting artifacts and scoring tests. Must be able to work independently.
The position is required to work three (3) nights per week with hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Responsibilities
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Sleep Testing: 80%
-Comprehensive Nocturnal Polysomnography in pediatric and adult populations, including full EEG sleep studies and home sleep testing
-Multiple Sleep Latency Testing
-Maintenance of Wakefulness Testing
-Application and monitoring of non-invasive ventilator support for sleep apnea, including Airvo and CPAP/BiLevel therapy in peds and adults
-Understanding and sleep support for home ventilation and trach patients
-Familiarity with pediatric-specific genetic disorders that may interfere with sleep
-Immediate response to patient's physiological events. Initiation of CPR when necessary.
-Maintenance, cleaning and organization of sleep rooms.
-Complies with Medical Center standards, House Rules and telephone standards.
-Complies with appropriate body substance precautions, infection control and hazardous materials policies.
Review and maintains records and data applicable to the Sleep Disorders Center: 10%
-Review patient clinical information, records, and history along with physician orders to ensure optimal diagnosis and therapy of sleep disorders.
-Score sleep stages and sleep diagnostic events to generate reports concerning the data obtained during testing.
-Generate reports and manage data obtained from sleep studies.
-Assists the interpreting physician in the diagnosis of sleep disorders.
-Periodically review policies and procedures of the laboratory for needed revision.
Maintain monitoring and recording equipment and therapeutic devices. 10%
-Maintain electrodes and sensors used to monitor sleep parameters.
-Maintain, clean and/or sterilize monitoring equipment used in direct patient contact.
-Maintain general sleep lab environment.
Qualifications
Required:
Current Sleep Technologist license from California Medical Board
- At least 1 year experience working nights in a sleep lab
- Highschool Diploma
- Current CPR BLS
- One of the following licenses:
• Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
• Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
