Who We Are Looking For:
We are currently searching for a Sr. Quality Engineer to be based out of our global headquarters in Harvey, IL, just 30 miles south of downtown Chicago. The Sr. Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting Quality Assurance within Atkore, including ISO requirements & compliance, and supplier quality programs. This person will report directly to the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage supplier quality resolution and reporting for Atkore. Report status and work to drive improvements in supply quality via the Atkore Business System and lead supply quality issues to resolution.
- Effectively communicate supplier quality and supplierdevelopment status to internal Atkore customers.
- Ensure clarity and consistency of the ISO requirements across all Atkore facilities.
- Conduct internal audits at all Atkore facilities to ensure ISO compliance.
- Support and lead Quality Assurance to meet the demands of customer-driven quality improvements and the expanding needs of a growing company.
- Investigate customer complaints by working closely with suppliers to identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Support and provide leadership for the Supplier Quality program across Atkore.
- Perform Quality systems audits of suppliers as needed.
- Support local facilities with ISO/UL accreditation and renewal audits.
- Partner with Sourcing to qualify and develop new suppliers, improving quality, mitigating supply chain risk, and driving cost savings and profitability
- Support plant cost reductions and process improvement projects through various Quality tools such as FMEA, process capability, Gage R&R, SPC, pareto analysis and other six sigma/lean tools.
- Write protocols and perform validations of new/improved materials and processes by leading and tracking supplier validation and supplier development.
- Continuously improve Quality Assurance capabilities and effectiveness by setting and achieving specified goals/metrics.
- Travel up to 25% of the time may be required
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’ degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field required.
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment; tube mill and/or metallurgical experience is a plus.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (preferred).
- Lead Auditor certification preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015 preferred.
- Knowledge of inspection, control methods, techniques and documentation.
- Experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing practices preferred.
- Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques preferred.
- Knowledge of statistical theory and principles, SPC and tools.
- Interpersonal skills suitable for interfacing with various levels of the organization.
Within 3 Months, You’ll:
- Complete your new hire “Immersion” so that you are ready to rock in your new role.
- Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
Within 6 Months, You’ll:
- Coordinate ISO plant site audits.
- Lead supplier quality reviews.
- Facilitate supplier quality status and reporting.
- Initiate corrective actions to create value and mitigate risk in the supply chain.
Within 12 Months, You’ll:
- Drive meaningful improvements for Atkore customers (internal and external) via the Atkore Business System and its tools.
- Show demonstrable leadership of supply chain quality including supply selections, supplier validations, supplier development and supply quality monitoring.
- Lead teams to drive improvements to internal and external supplier quality via targeting breakthrough results.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $92,720 - $127,490. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
