About this role
The Staff Accountant is responsible for owning audit and tax schedules for Vollrath’s corporate and benefit plan programs. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of new tax laws and regulations as they pertain to Vollrath. In addition, the Staff Accountant owns elements of Vollrath’s risk management program to include annual insurance renewal schedules and government filings and surveys. The Staff Accountant owns general accounting functions, such as journal entries, reconciliations and reports.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare schedules for corporate and benefit plan audits and related federal and state tax returns.
• Own monthly, quarterly and annual sales and use tax and nexus compliance.
• Own daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and margin reports.
• Support corporate risk management through preparation of annual insurance renewal schedules as well as ongoing maintenance.
• Manage general compliance requirements, including government filings and surveys.
• Support corporate leased vehicle program.
• Together with the supervisor, add value to the organization by maintaining a working knowledge of federal and state tax law changes, optimizing Vollrath’s tax position and ensuring timely enterprise-level compliance.
• Work collaboratively with the finance organization as well as internal and external constituencies.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
• 1-2+ years’ experience in a general accounting environment. Manufacturing industry experience a plus but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or progress towards a degree, or equivalent combination of education and / or experience.
• Strong commitment to Vollrath values and culture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems, prioritize, and work independently.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external constituencies.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite platform – Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
• JDE ERP system experience a plus.
