Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller and will be responsible for many day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on accounts payable. Duties will include:

 

Job Description:

  • Assist with month-end & year-end financial close procedures
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Assist with computations for internal commission payments.
  • Assist the billing department with daily customer billing tasks during peak times.
  • Assist the tax department with maintaining sales tax records.
  • Provide routine or as needed accounting support that contributes to the effective functioning of the Accounting/Finance Department.
  • Other accounting related duties as assigned.

 

Demonstrated Skill in:

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Preparing and maintaining records.
  • Preparing reports.
  • Handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Utilizing computer technology used for communication, data gathering and reporting.
  • Using Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Communicating effectively through oral and written mediums.

 

Qualifications and Essential Functions:

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and/or 2+ years of experience in accounting preferred.

Job functions require long periods of sitting and working from computer workstation; ability to multi-task, problem solve, and prioritize daily workload; excellent organization and record keeping skills; comfortable with oral and written communications. Requires extended periods of sitting, normal walking, bending, twisting, and stretching.  Capability of sight and hearing required.  Ability to deal with stressful situations and occasionally working extended hours.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
