Staff Accountant I

Position Summary
The Staff Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating and entering transactions accurately as directed by VPNE’s Finance Department. The person in this role will perform routine daily revenue and reporting audits on operations.
This is an entry level position with excellent opportunities for growth and a chance to learn all tenets of Finance in a growing middle market company. This role will be primarily based from our Hingham Office across from the Shipyard, with some current flexibility to work from home a few days a week. The Staff Accountant supports the Controller and CFO with general ledger account management, financial reporting, budgeting and assisting with other duties. This position requires a fast learner, high degree of accuracy, attention to detail as well as creative and strategic thinking.
Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly client Profit & Loss (P&L) statements
- Assists with accounts payable as needed
- Assists with accounts receivable as needed
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Prepares and reviews monthly allocations
- Analyzes accounts, transactions and procedures
- Prepares journal entries and maintain files and records supporting General Ledger transactions.
- Assist Controller with balance sheets reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of all audits
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent practical experience
Professional Experience:
- Property Management Experience is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central is a plus
Requirements:
- Must be proficient with MS Office suite – Intermediate in Microsoft Excel
- Familiar with Microsoft Business Central is a plus
- Must have basic understanding of debits and credits and integrated financial statements.
- Must have detail-oriented focus, and be eager to learn.
- The ability to research and analyze various different type of data information.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines a must as well the ability to multi-task
- Must be articulate, organized and possess excellent communication skills and strong work ethic, good planning and prioritization skills.
- Must be able to commute to Hingham, MA office 2 days/week.
Salary: $65,000
