The Accounting Intern will support the General Accounting team by assisting with account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, fixed asset tracking, and other routine accounting functions. This internship provides hands‑on experience with financial systems, internal controls, and month‑end close processes, offering students a valuable introduction to public‑sector accounting.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Reconciliations & Financial Analysis
Assist in preparing and reviewing daily and monthly account reconciliations, including cash clearing accounts and operating bank statements.
- Support the preparation of worksheets, schedules, and summary reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting tasks.
General Ledger & Journal Entry Support
- Assist General Ledger Staff Accounting in setting up vendors and help with verification process.
- Support general accounting procedures including preparing and posting daily journal entries, completing end of month close procedures and performing account reconciliations.
As needed, assist with other accounting projects.
EDUCATION
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university.
WORK SCHEDULE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- This position is based at our Logan Office Center.
- Ability to work a 37.5-hour work week.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
Ability to pass Massport’s pre-employment-controlled substance test and background checks.
