About this role

Overview:

United Community is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant – Premises and Equipment to support the accounting and financial administration of the Bank’s Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E), fixed assets, and prepaid expenses. This position works closely with accounting teammates, internal departments, auditors, vendors, and external partners to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and effective asset management.

What You’ll Do:
  • Assist with data entry and maintenance of Fixed Asset and Prepaid databases.
  • Support monthly depreciation and amortization processing, along with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly fixed asset roll-forward.
  • Review accounts payable transactions for accuracy related to fixed asset and prepaid activity.
  • Assist with the annual disposal of fully depreciated assets no longer in service.
  • Perform assigned general ledger and internal DDA account reconciliations.
  • Research and assist in clearing reconciling items.
  • Provide backup support to the Accounting Premises and Equipment Manager
  • Coordinate additions and deletions of properties with the Bank’s insurance provider.
  • Serve as a liaison between vendors, branch personnel, and insurance providers concerning claims and losses.
  • Perform financial analysis upon request.
  • Collaborate with auditors in testing internal controls.
  • Assist with merger and acquisition (M&A) activities as needed.
Requirements For Success:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting or financial environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid math skills and a basic understanding of accounting principles and functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adherence to management policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Completion of all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering (BSA/AML) training and other internal/external training programs.
Conditions of Employment:
  • You must be able to pass a background & credit check.
  • This is a full-time, non-remote position.

Pay Range: USD $18.63 - USD $24.58 /Hr.
