WHAT WE'RE DOING
Lockheed Martin’s Syracuse Facility is an engineering hub for the U.S. Navy’s Mk48 advanced heavyweight torpedo. The program delivers the design, integration, manufacture, and test of the guidance and control section and warhead electronics system, while continually inserting new technologies to keep the weapon at the cutting edge.
THE WORK
**Technical Leadership**
- Lead small‑to‑medium engineering teams; assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure deliverables meet schedule and quality goals.
- Conduct peer, design, and failure reviews (DFMEA, FRB, DFX) and provide constructive feedback.
**Design & Analysis**
- Produce and maintain 3‑D CAD models and associated drawings for mechanical components and sub‑assemblies.
- Perform static, thermal, and vibration analyses; validate results against performance requirements.
**Manufacturing Support**
- Apply standard engineering practices to resolve production issues in component fabrication, assembly, and testing.
- Lead root‑cause investigations and develop corrective‑action plans; track implementation and effectiveness.
**Research & Innovation**
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies for future torpedo programs; develop proof‑of‑concept studies.
**Customer & Stakeholder Interaction**
- Serve as the primary technical interface with Navy customers, suppliers, and senior Lockheed Martin leadership.
- Prepare and present status briefings, technical reports, and risk assessments.
**Mentorship**
- Provide technical guidance and career‑development support to junior engineers and interns.
**Program Administration**
- Maintain configuration control, documentation, and compliance with program standards.
- Contribute to schedule and cost tracking within the mechanical engineering organization.

- A licensed or graduate‑level Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in design, analysis, and manufacturing.

Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of professional engineering experience, preferably in defense, naval, or maritime systems.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing complex projects.
• Proficient in commercial CAD tools,(e.g., {PTC CREP. Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks).

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
