Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience with iOS application development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience with AI and agentic development.
  • Experience in iOS Apps, Mobile App Development, Mobile Development, Google Mobile Apps, Google Mobile Services.
  • Experience in Swift or other languages/frameworks used in mobile app development (e.g., Kotlin, Dart/Flutter).
  • Understanding of the challenges in developing for mobile and resource-constrained devices, including managing compute, power, and latency.

You will join the team that is dedicated to creating next generation AI interactions. The team's mission is to give people superhuman abilities by making information instantly and intuitively accessible.

This is a relatively new area and we’ve barely scratched the surface. There are lots of new opportunities to manage exciting engineering problems and build multiple skills that will also have a significant impact. The team primarily focuses on building AI-powered interactions that allow users to control next-gen devices like glasses and VR headsets and bringing the best of Google’s Gemini experiences with multimodal inputs to next-gen devices like glasses and VR headsets.

For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $301000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to own and drive the technical road map, implementation, and delivery of critical features for next-generation Augmented Reality (AR) devices.
  • Empower the team to collaborate across organizations and cross-functionally with UX, product, design, research to identify key technologies, establish milestones, and progress solutions from concept to launch.
  • Collaborate across product areas to develop, leverage, and de-risk advanced technologies to deliver solutions.
  • Evaluate and develop technologies and its product application to help support next generation product features, specifications and system architecture.
  • Be responsible for fostering technical excellence and ensure judgement in balancing immediate needs with long-term health. Guide junior engineers in adopting standard procedures for software development and architecture. Drive code quality, testing strategies, and ensure long-term maintainability.
