We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join HDR’s Tax Team as a Staff Tax Accountant. As a member of our tax department, you will play a crucial role in supporting various tax compliance, reporting, and reconciliation responsibilities. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Assist in the preparation and filing of indirect U.S and international transaction tax returns including:
o    Sales and use taxes
o    Value added taxes (VAT)
o    Withholding taxes
o    Property taxes
o    Business licenses
o    Other tax filings
•    Review vendor invoices to ensure tax is accurately charged and properly coded. 
•    Analyze software and service contracts to determine potential use tax obligations. 
•    Assist with tax audits by gathering and organizing supporting documentation. 
•    Research and analyze tax rules and implications related to HDR’s activities, under the guidance of senior team members. 
•    Perform month end close activities, including preparation of tax related journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations. 
•    Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including Treasury, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and IT to support tax compliance and reporting. 
•    Collaborate with the international tax team and external tax firms to gather and organize data for compliance and reporting. 
•    Assist with special projects related to HDR’s tax profile, including use of Microsoft Excel and other technology tools to support tax process automation initiatives.
 

The successful candidate should be a proactive and detail-oriented individual capable of managing multiple priorities within the company. Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. Effective communication skills and an appreciation for diverse perspectives are key attributes for success in this role.

Essential Qualifications:

•    Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
•    Positive attitude and desire to be part of successful team
•    Self-motivated and detail oriented
•    Ability to work independently, handle interruptions, and adapt to shifting priorities
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field
•    Prior experience with corporate taxation or accounting
•    Familiarity with tax laws and tax administration concepts
•    Knowledge of and familiarity with ERP systems, (e.g., Oracle)
•    Knowledge of and familiarity with tax rating engines, (e.g., Vertex)
•    Mix of public accounting and industry experience
•    CPA or CPA candidate
 

 


Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
