THE POSITION

The Stock Clerk 3 position with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) at Troop D, Butler offers a strong opportunity to take on greater responsibility in a vital operational role. This position allows you to apply your knowledge of PSP processes while managing supplies, equipment, and inventory that keep daily operations running smoothly. You will stay active, organized, and closely connected to the needs of the Troop as you help ensure access to essential resources. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports Troop D, Butler operations by managing supplies, equipment, inventory, and procurement activities. It requires strong organization skills, attention to detail, and steady coordination with personnel and vendors. As a Stock Clerk 3, you will perform the following duties:

  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, receive requests, order supplies, distribute items, and maintain records for all materials
  • Vendor Coordination: Secure bids, inspect goods from vendors, and make authorized minor purchases when needed
  • Purchase Monitoring: Track purchase orders, communicate with vendors and PSP units, and maintain purchasing card records
  • Equipment Records: Maintain up to date records for clothing, badges, firearms, body armor, and other issued items while assisting personnel with fittings
  • Property Control: Conduct inventory inspections, track property movement, and determine whether items should be repaired, replaced, or condemned
  • Physical Handling: Load and unload supplies and organize or rearrange stock items

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Organization or Location Restrictions:

  • This posting is restricted to Pennsylvania State Police employees only. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in stores control work, including one year of experience with responsibility for the operation of a small storeroom; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a high school or vocational school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements: 

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.  If no applicable union-covered bidders apply, other applicants may be considered.

  • Seniority/Promotion Unit: 023 - Troop D, Butler and all Stations 

Permanent full-time Stock Clerk 3s can be considered for lateral transfer.
