About this role
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Capable of performing all the responsibilities listed in this job position
- Accountable for all engineering aspects of projects they sign and seal
- Complete daily engineering responsibilities with little guidance from superiors
- Lead minor departmental strategic initiatives
- Perform other related duties as required
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 4 years (minimum) experience in structural engineering
- Active P.E. license is required (Must be licensed in at least one state.)
- Experience with both the IRC and IBC building codes
- Experience in structural steel design per ASD and AISC engineering standards
- Experience in designing and engineering of wood structures per the American Wood Council’s National Design Specifications and Special Design Provisions
- Experience in foundation design and engineering using ACI engineering standards
- Experience with the ASCE-7 minimum design load standards
- Experience in creating an electronic calculation booklet for submittal purposes
Travel
This position requires minimal travel to support SIPs activities.
Computer Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
- Demonstrated proficiency in 2d and 3d structural FEA software tools
- Demonstrated proficiency in using notational mathematical software programs
Other Requirements
- Self-Starter in creating new methodologies to support SIPSs engineering and products
- Able to communicate effectively with coworkers and clients
- Possess a broad knowledge of engineering principles and know how to apply
- Be able to obtain other Professional Engineering licenses as required
