The Boeing CompanyThe Payloads organization within Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Structures & Payload Design Engineer (Galley Inserts Design) (Associate or Experienced) to join our Multi-Model Galley Insert Team in Long Beach, CA.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite in Long Beach, CA.
The role of an Galley Insert Engineer is a dynamic position that requires frequent collaboration with a variety of internal and external teams including engineering, supply chain, the galley supplier, factory personnel, multi-disciplined functional teams, interior certification, payloads configuration, customer engineering, airline customers, and others.
This position requires a proactive individual who is able to approach problems systemically, program mange issues with both the big picture and details in mind, clearly communicate technical and non-technical issues, manage and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks, and consistently communicate/collaborate efficiently with all internal and external stakeholders.
Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works under general supervision.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages program activities and collaborates with all stakeholders in the value stream to meet on time delivery commitment
Coordinates and manages multiple Galley Inserts qualification programs simultaneously
Reviews and approve supplier technical data and hardware for compliance with FAA, Customer and Boeing specifications
Works with technical experts to ensure proper test and certification requirements, and develops designs and analysis processes to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the programs
Engages with factory personnel to ensure seamless installation and integration of the galley inserts
Applies engineering principles to investigate technical inquires, deviations, customer specific inquiries, non-conformances, operational and quality issues
Works under general supervision
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced Struct & Payload Design Engr (Galley Inserts Design Engineer).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
2+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification
2+ years of experience do you have in Aircraft Interiors Design and Certification
2+ years of experience do you have in designing payload structures and/or payload mechanical assemblies
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
Working knowledge of Airplane Payloads and Interiors
Working knowledge of FAA and/or EASA transport category aircraft program regulations
Working knowledge of managing supplier activities
Working knowledge of CSDT (Customer and Supplier Data Transmittal)
Working knowledge of ETAC (Engineering Tracking and Control)
Working knowledge of PDM (Product Data Manager)
Working knowledge of IVT (Integration Visualization Tool)
Experience with CATIA V5 (or equivalent 3D CAD design software)
Working knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action
Strong oral and written communications skills
Willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally
Working knowledge of program management/project management
Working knowledge of working with and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives
Working knowledge of engineering drawings review and release process
