The Cincinnati Insurance Companies' Planning Analytics and Risk Management department has an open intern position in data science and innovation for the summer of 2026. This intern will work in the innovation analytics team with a focus on machine learning and modeling preparation.  This position will be based in our corporate headquarter in Fairfield, Ohio.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine raw data and manually create labels for machine learning model training and validation

  • Run analyses, distill business insights, and create reports

  • Utilize analytics thinking and skills to identify possible solutions for business challenges 

 

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we expect you to be/have:

  • Patient, detail-oriented, and conscientious - this position requires labeling a large volume of data, which can be tedious and repetitive

     

  • Curious about data and business impact
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a forward-looking mindset
  • Good collaboration and excellent communication skills

Candidates should have the ability to work in the United States for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship.  Our company is not currently hiring interns for this role if they will need sponsorship at any time in the future, including Optional Practical Training (OPT) or Curricular Practical Training (CPT).

 

Starting Pay: Begins at $18 per hour and is based on the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Timeline:

Preference will be given to applications submitted before April 25, 2026.  Roles will be filled as soon as possible.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college/university; sophomore level or above (graduate-level candidate preferred) 
  • Major in a quantitative field such as math, physics, computer science, economics, or similar (preferred)

     

  • Collegiate transcripts required with submission of candidate profile (unofficial are acceptable)
  • In good academic standing (cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher preferred)
  • Must be able to work up to 40 hours per week; Hybrid schedule available - based at HQ in Fairfield, OH
  • Proficient Microsoft® Office tools and related software
