Key Components: The offices and departments of Financial Services support the mission of Baylor University by providing financial services to Baylor students, faculty, staff, and other constituencies. The purpose of the Controller's Office is to record accurate and timely entries to the University's accounting system, to maintain the system of fixed assets, and to provide timely and accurate financial statements and reports.
This position supports Baylor and the Controller’s Office by working primarily in Excel and Ignite. Position requires interaction with faculty & staff in the performance of asset tagging. Therefore, the ability to draft professional correspondence and possess a professional demeanor, both in dress and attitude, is a must. Other duties will include filing, shredding, copying, faxing, creating Excel spreadsheets, creating Word documents, data entry, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
The pay for this position is $12 per hour, up to 40 hours per week during Summer 2026.
Monday-Friday 8 AM to 5 PM
Please note the Controller's Office observes a "Business Casual" dress policy.
The University policy requires equipment tagging for assets costing over $5,000. Fixed Assets Accounting is responsible for assuring assets are processed in a timely and accurate manner. The primary function of this job is to assist in the asset tagging process and with year-end procedures. This is both a physical and an accounting function.
The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to gain firsthand accounting experience from a non-profit organization. They will assist the University's accounting department in inventory controls and the recording of fixed assets. This position is unique in that it allows the student to interact with faculty and staff on a professional level and allows the student to learn about the many fixed assets of the University. The more the student is willing to put into their work and prove themselves, the more the department will entrust work to them and invest in them with increased responsibility.
Individual must possess intermediate skills in creating complex Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. Some exposure to Ignite is preferred but not required.
