ATHLETIC & ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR, 1.0 FTE (IN-DISTRICT ONLY)
BURLINGTON-EDISON SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Burlington-Edison School District is seeking qualified applicants to provide outstanding leadership, management, and oversight of the District’s co-curricular activities and athletic programs. The successful candidate will ensure that students have equitable access to participate in robust, well-managed programs with strong coaching, a focus on skill and character development, and an emphasis on excellence in academics and co-curricular activities.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES:
Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).
Preference for Master’s degree in Sports/Athletic Administration.
Priority given to applicants meeting other qualifications who are fluent in Spanish.
Minimum of three years of program management or leadership experience closely related to athletic directing, supervising, and/or activities.
Knowledge and experience in effective coaching, parent communication, coach and program evaluation, mentoring coaches, student leadership, and student learning.
Successful experience authentically engaging and leading diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to equity of access to athletics and activities.
Current knowledge and understanding of WIAA standards and Title IX regulations.
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, professionalism, and respect.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to schedule and coordinate facilities use and maintenance with district and building personnel.
Knowledge of or amenable to learn, use and integrate the district’s technology strategies, systems and software.
Commitment to communicating effectively and inclusively in multicultural settings.
High degree of commitment to a continuing program of personal and professional growth.
Ability to pass Federal/State criminal history background clearance and all other mandated clearances.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership in planning, implementing, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating district-wide interscholastic athletic and activities programs. Facilitate vertical alignment between middle school and high school sports and activities.
Promote co-curricular athletic activities that foster skill development, understanding of sports, and appreciation for various athletic activities and programs, teaming, and sportsmanship for students and adults.
Oversee the school’s ASB program, with a particular focus on promoting student leadership and a positive school culture; supervise club advisors.
Attend/supervise games and events, both home and away; frequent evening and weekend responsibilities.
Ensure compliance with WIAA standards, eligibility requirements, District policies and procedures, and Title IX regulations.
Work closely with parents to build support for district programs and individual student success.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary in accordance with current negotiated agreement; additional supplemental contracts including Athletic Director stipend and extended days.
Medical, dental and other insurance benefits available based upon SEBB regulations.
This position is part of the local bargaining association.
