INTERVIEWS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 10-11, 2026

PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY - SUSPENSION OF COMPETITION

In accordance with Fresno County Personnel Rule 4310.6, the County of Fresno Department of Child Support Services is pleased to announce a promotional opportunity for the position of Supervising Child Support Specialist. Incumbents supervise, monitor and coordinate the work of child support staff. Supervisory duties include interviewing, selecting, training, assigning, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining subordinate staff.

The Department intends to fill one (1) Supervising Child Support Specialist position. Candidates for this suspension of competition are limited to current Department of Child Support Services employees who meet the minimum qualifications and filing requirements specified on this announcement and occupy a permanent position as a Child Support Assistant or Child Support Specialist I/II/Senior.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below:

 

OPTION 1:      

Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.


Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, paid work experience equivalent to that gained as a Child Support Specialist with the County of Fresno, one (1) year which involved assigning, monitoring, and reviewing the work of lower-level staff or providing assistance and training to lower-level staff.


OPTION 2:      

Education: Completion of thirty (30) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.


Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, paid work experience equivalent to that gained as a Child Support Specialist with the County of Fresno, one (1) year which involved assigning, monitoring, and reviewing the work of lower-level staff or providing assistance and training to lower-level staff.


AND


Six (6) months of full-time, paid customer service experience obtaining and providing information to the public or conducting business transactions.


OPTION 3:      

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, paid work experience equivalent to that gained as a Child Support Specialist with the County of Fresno, one (1) year which involved assigning, monitoring, and reviewing the work of lower-level staff or providing assistance and training to lower-level staff.


AND                


One (1) year of full-time, paid customer service experience obtaining and providing information to the public or conducting business transactions.


The following information is in addition to the options listed above:

 

License: Possession of a valid Class “C” driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.


Note: Incumbents must obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4310 - Suspension of Competition, competitive examination may be suspended by the Director of Human Resources for a vacancy that meets the specified criteria. In such cases, all applicants must meet the established minimum qualifications and filing requirements as specified on this announcement. In this instance, all employees that meet the minimum qualifications and filing requirements as specified on this announcement will be afforded an interview.
