    Supervisor of Instruction (Elementary)

     

    Location:  Central Office, Oakland, MD
    FTE:  Full-Time
    Status:  Exempt (Certificated Administrative and Supervisor Unit, Category III)
    Terms:  12-Months, 8 Hours per day, but may be greater depending upon system needs
    Salary:  Certificated Administrative and Supervisor Unit, Category III Salary Schedule based upon experience and educational background ($99,961 -$123,341)

    Job Description: This position provides leadership in planning, developing, and implementing the district's elementary, Fine Arts, Gifted and Talented, and Media education programs. This position is supervisory in nature. 

     

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Eligible for or currently holds an Advanced Professional Certificate or License in Administration and Supervision issued by the Maryland State Department of Education
    • Ability to understand and analyze data with the ability to lead others towards increased student outcomes at the school and county levels using data-driven decisions.
    • Deep knowledge of state and federal expectations and the ability to apply high-leverage instructional strategies to support student outcomes.
    • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness, including using observation and feedback protocols.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills.
    • Ability to lead high-quality professional learning.
    • Proficiency in a variety of technology applications and the ability to assist others as needed.  

     

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Master's Degree, or higher, in an applicable field from an accredited college or university
    • Minimum five (5) years of teaching experience, preferably in multiple grade levels
    • Experience with structured literacy, MTSS, and data-based intervention systems

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Leads curriculum development and implementation while supporting the alignment of instructional practices and resources to promote differentiated instruction, enrichment, MTSS, and to meet the needs of diverse learners.
    • Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, uses data to guide decisions and improve outcomes, and reviews/selects high-quality instructional materials in collaboration with teacher leaders.
    • Collaborates with and leads teams of teachers and leaders in a variety of settings to support increased student outcomes.
    • Prepares program reports and manages budgets, materials, and grants.
    • Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and regular evaluation of instructional programs aligned with state and national standards.
    • Provides professional learning opportunities aligned with district goals that encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
    • Ensures instructional materials and curriculum documents are current, vertically and horizontally aligned, vetted by content experts, and designed to support differentiated instruction for diverse learners in alignment with MSDE guidance.
    • Supervises and implements requirements for Fine Arts, Gifted and Talented, and Media programs.
    • Works cooperatively and collectively with principals, staff, and other supervisors to ensure that instructional programs and services are coordinated in the schools and throughout the county.
    • Supports teacher growth through observations, feedback, and evaluation.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
