Duties
Conduct complete investigations of alleged criminal offenses perpetrated by offenders for violations of Federal, state, county, and DA statues, laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.,Investigate theft or damage to government or private property, assault, shoplifting, adultery, unlawful entry, or any other kind of violations.,Use special techniques and equipment to collect and preserve fragile or minute evidence when processing the crime scene.,Maintain surveillance over suspected persons or areas which experience a high incident of crime.,Supervise subordinate detectives and military police personnel.,Assign investigative tasks for completion by subordinates and directly supervises the completion of investigative or other law enforcement related tasks.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Applying law enforcement investigative procedures and techniques to investigate crimes; 2) Preparing investigative reports to document findings; and 3) Analyzing investigative facts to develop criminal cases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
