Full-time onsite:
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

The Role:
This Industrial Engineer/Data Scientist position is designed to support the Austin Business Center at BAE Systems. As a member of this team, you will be expected to identify and systematically eliminate waste using classical Industrial Engineering and Lean methods, utilize and build simulation modeling to improve operations, and be required to work on and lead interdisciplinary teams. Individual must be able to format structured approaches to problem solving, communicate effectively with stakeholders and work closely with Supply Chain Planning, Stock room and the Operations teams.

The Role:
This Industrial Engineer/Data Scientist position is designed to support the Austin Business Center at BAE Systems. As a member of this team, you will be expected to identify and systematically eliminate waste using classical Industrial Engineering and Lean methods, utilize and build simulation modeling to improve operations, and be required to work on and lead interdisciplinary teams. Individual must be able to format structured approaches to problem solving, communicate effectively with stakeholders and work closely with Supply Chain Planning, Stock room and the Operations teams.
You will be responsible for tasks including but not limited to:
- Determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow.
- Establish methods for maximum utilization of facilities and personnel. AutoCAD experience is preferred not required.
- Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction and equipment usage
- Engage in regular communications and collaboration with the operations managers, planners, logistics, floor operations and operations team to assess operations performance
- Design of factory layouts, factory modeling/simulation, and to ensure data aligns with the overall plan and vision for the manufacturing site.
- Collaborate with various internal departments that include Program Management, Production Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Facilities, Purchasing, Finance, and the Operation team to develop a world class manufacturing facility.
- Track projects and reports status to key stakeholders on regular basis.
- Develops mitigation plans when issues arise that may jeopardize project timelines
- Develop and deploy a framework of continuous improvement utilizing lean principles by performing value-stream analysis simulations.
- Reduce waste, rework, and cycle times.
- Scientific thought process, systems insight to extract knowledge from a broad chaotic data set.
LEAP Internship Program:
In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.
In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. Required Skills and Education
- Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program, or Associates Degree completed, in any engineering/technical degree (mechanical, electrical, industrial, aerospace, engineering technology) Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, or Data Science
- Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent team player who is willing to contribute and learn

- Ability to understand abstract concepts and based on that understanding calling out anomalies at the right time, before they become giant issues.
- Possess excellent Data analytical skills and the ability to recognize and utilize data to gain buy in from a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Must possess excellent oral and written skills in order to communicate effectively with other teams.
- Experience with Automatic Storage and Retrieval Systems preferably Kardex and/or Mycronic and interfaces with middleware and Oracle is preferred
- SQL/Python, C, C++, any other 4GL and 5GL is preferred
