About this Position:
This position works to assist the DOTD Location and Survey's Surveyor Manager to manage the Automation Processing Unit.

Position Duties

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional land surveying plus one of the following:

Two years of licensed land surveying experience; OR

Six years of professional land surveying experience.

NOTE:
Surveying experience gained while licensed as a professional land surveyor will be accepted as licensed land surveying experience.

Surveying experience gained after earning a bachelor’s degree and 30 semester hours in land surveying, mapping, and real property courses and prior to earning a Professional Land Surveyor license (e.g., as a Surveyor Intern or equivalent) will be accepted as professional-level surveying experience.

Job Duties:

  • Manages and coordinates the Automation Unit of the Location and Survey Section, engaged in all facets of obtaining the services of private consulting engineering and surveying firms to furnish topographic, hydrographic and property surveying services and right-of-way map preparation services, including work effort negotiation, contract writing, project tracking and reporting and recommending invoice approval.

  • Handles all revisions including coordination of contract consultants with DOTD's Real Estate, Construction, and other sections and outside agencies requiring revisions to signed and sealed right-of-way maps.

  • Manages proper distribution of all revisions and coordination of 60% joint plan review procedures with all other sections and agencies.

  • Coordinates and directs the activities of the Automation Unit of Location and Survey as they relate to the total Department Construction and Maintenance Program.

  • Provides oversight in troubleshooting on surveys during the construction phase of the projects should problems arise.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a promotion or Detail to Special Duty and is only open to current permanent status classified DOTD employees.
