Job Description
You will be the Senior Sustainment Engineer supporting the development, qualification, and lifecycle sustainment of specialized shipping and storage containers and support equipment. Our team is responsible for ensuring mission-critical hardware can be safely transported, stored, operated, maintained, and supported throughout the product lifecycle.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Sustainment Engineer, you will manage the development and qualification of specialized shipping and storage containers and support equipment. You’ll work closely with engineering teams, suppliers, program stakeholders, and customers to ensure support equipment solutions meet technical, operational, environmental, maintainability, and contractual requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing the development and qualification of specialized shipping and storage containers and support equipment.
• Developing, revising, and executing detailed requirements documents, requirement verification plans, supplier statements of work, and test plans.
• Coordinating, participating in, or leading support equipment compatibility events to ensure equipment properly interfaces with supported hardware and operational needs.
• Supporting suitability and maintainability demonstrations to validate that support equipment solutions are practical, effective, and maintainable in field and depot environments.
• Planning and supporting fit checks, environmental test events, technical procedure reviews, and validation activities.
• Working cross-functionally with engineering, logistics, suppliers, field support, and program teams to resolve technical issues and ensure support equipment readiness.
• Reviewing technical data, drawings, specifications, procedures, and supplier documentation to confirm compliance with program requirements.
• Providing status updates, risk assessments, and technical recommendations to program leadership and key stakeholders.
• Supporting continuous improvement efforts focused on transportation efficiency, equipment reliability, maintainability, lifecycle affordability, and long-term sustainment performance.

Basic Qualifications
• Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
• Technical engineering degree in an appropriate field, or equivalent professional or military experience.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in field service, depot operations, sustainment, or a similar technical support role.
• Experience supporting military aircraft, missile systems, or related defense systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $77,700 - $136,965. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
