Swim Instructor - Gaither Pool 2026-2027 School Year

Pay Range:Student Salary Schedule

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 16 years of age and good health
• Water Safety Instructor, First Aid and CPR for the Professions Rescuer/AED certification required
• Lifeguard Training and Lifeguard Training Instructor preferred
• Basic Computer Skills desired
• One year pool experience
• Prior job-related experiences will be considered

SUPERVISES: 

• Assists the Pool Manager and Head Instructor in the supervision of Pool Aides and Volunteers

 
POSITON RESPONSIBILITY: 

• To instruct the assigned swimming classes as directed by the Pool Manager

 
PERFORMANCE DUTIES: 

• The duties of the instructor shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

1. Supervise students of swimming classes in the pool and designated locker room.
2. Instruct swimming classes as directed by the Pool Manager or Head Instructor according to the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's Manual
3. Maintain records for each student
4. Submit the test results of each student to the Pool Manager at the conclusion of each two-week session.
5. Evaluate the individual performance for each student, complete course record forms and distribute each student's certification.
6. Prepare a written lesson plan as directed by the Pool Manager or the Head Instructor
7. Return all equipment to its proper location at the conclusion of each class
8. Attend staff and/or in-service meetings as assigned by the Pool Manager
9. Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate by the Pool Manager and/or the Head Instructor.

EVALUATION:

• Performance of the job will be evaluated in writing by the Pool Manager and/or the Head Instructor with input from the Pool Manager

• Pool Manager or Head Guard
