HAPO is now accepting applications for a Systems Engineer in Richland, WA. We are seeking an individual who is ambitious, self-motivated and who strives to represent HAPO’s core commitment “Be in the Moment” and standard of service “Defy Expectations” with our members, community as well as the team they are a part of. The Systems Engineer supports the systems life cycle in our agnostic environment by implementing and maintaining an efficient and secure enterprise infrastructure that offers uninterrupted service for our customers. The Systems Engineer provides a holistic view of all enterprise systems infrastructure including server hardware, operating systems, storage hardware/software, messaging and collaboration hardware/software, and related peripherals. Systems Engineers manage at least one infrastructure technology and have expertise in relevant infrastructure systems. This position is expected to have subject matter knowledge with a firm grasp of solutions, functions, technology, and protocols. Must have a broad view of credit union operations with an understanding of credit union products and how they relate to HAPO’s information systems. Must also understand how the various software and hardware systems interact with each other. 

 

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise systems and virtual infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operation. 
  • Serve as a technical subject matter resource for assigned systems, performing system lifecycle activities, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with vendors as needed. 

  • Plan and execute system upgrades, maintenance, and change activities in accordance with established processes, organizational standards, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Work closely with the Information Security Engineer to plan, coordinate, and implement system patching and updates to ensure systems remain secure, compliant, and supported. 

  • Proactively monitor system health, performance, and capacity, independently identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving issues, and escalating when appropriate. 

  • Support security, compliance, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements for assigned systems. 

  • Develop and maintain automation and operational best practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and system reliability. 

  • Collaborate with Information Security, IT leadership, and other stakeholders to support departmental objectives and IT initiatives. 

  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date system documentation, procedures, and operational records for assigned systems.

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.

  • 4-year degree from college or university, with concentration in Computer Science or another closely related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Ability to maintain a driving record that meets HAPO’s Corporate Vehicle Policy Standards as required job function.


Location: On-Site Richland (WA)

Schedule: Must be able to work 35-40 hours a week between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm M-F, and participates in an on-call rotation that may require Saturday coverage.

Starting Salary Range (DOE): 
Systems Engineer Level I: $70,796.96 - $106,195.65
Systems Engineer Level II: $80,364.75 - $120,547.02
*Typically, Selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint range, based on applicable experience and qualifications.
