About this role

Are you a bold thinker eager to begin shaping the future of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR)? At SNC, we dream big—advancing aerospace innovation, supporting service members, and delivering mission‑critical systems that enhance global security. Join our team as we develop the next generation of airborne ISR capabilities, including platforms like RAPCON‑X: our digitally born, MBSE‑engineered, modular A‑ISR solution designed for modern environments.

As a Systems Engineer I, you will contribute to the systems engineering activities that bring these advanced ISR platforms to life. Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll support requirements development, systems integration, Verification & Validation (V&V), and Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tasks that help ensure aircraft‑level mission readiness and performance.

In this role, you’ll assist with technical planning, system analysis, design maturation, and documentation across the engineering lifecycle. You’ll learn how complex ISR architectures are developed, integrated, tested, and sustained—gaining exposure to sensors, mission systems, aircraft modifications, and digital engineering processes.

This entry-level position is perfect for early‑career engineers who are curious, motivated, and excited to grow their skills while contributing to meaningful, real‑world aerospace missions. You’ll receive mentorship, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and build the foundation for a successful systems engineering career supporting SNC’s Next‑Gen ISR programs.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:

  • Support requirements engineering activities by assisting with requirement gathering, documentation, decomposition, and basic traceability under close guidance from senior engineers.

  • Assist in systems integration tasks, helping coordinate the integration of hardware, software, sensors, and subsystems while learning standard engineering processes and tools.

  • Participate in Verification & Validation (V&V) efforts, including test procedure development, data collection, and assessment of results to ensure systems meet defined requirements.

  • Apply introductory Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques, learning to navigate models, update diagrams, and support digital engineering workflows.

  • Contribute to foundational system and decision analysis, supporting trade studies, technical reviews, and risk assessments with oversight from more experienced engineers.

  • Help with technical planning and documentation, including preparing meeting materials, updating engineering artifacts, and supporting configuration control activities.

  • Assist in lifecycle management tasks, gaining exposure to concept development, design reviews, integration, test, and sustainment phases.

  •  Support architecture and design development, learning how system designs are created, reviewed, and matured, while contributing to basic technical monitoring tasks.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional team members, participating in discussions, capturing action items, and sharing status updates.

  • Demonstrate eagerness to learn and grow, proactively seeking mentorship, training opportunities, and hands‑on experience to build core systems engineering competencies.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • 0-2+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field.

  • Basic understanding of Systems modeling and simulation tools.

  • Basic Understanding of multiple Engineering principles and practices.

  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.

  • Conceptual knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States Top Secret Security Clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Internship or cooperative education experience in systems engineering.

  • Basic knowledge of industry standards and best practices.

  • Understanding of networking devices.

  • Basic understanding of application software integration, software design, development and test methodologies.

  • Understanding of requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Cameo, MATLAB.

  • Knowledge of industry-standard system engineering design principles, to include, classical and MBSE.

  • Experienced or certified in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standards [Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP)].

  • Familiarity with baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternatives.

  • Exposure to establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM).

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.

  • Hand/finger dexterity for system modeling and documentation.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel.

This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.
