Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems & Test Engineering Summer Intern to join our medical device new product development (NPD) team. This role offers hands-on experience supporting the development of test methods, test fixtures, and verification activities for innovative medical technologies. The intern will collaborate cross-functionally with systems, mechanical, electrical, and quality engineers to ensure products meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

In This Role, You Will:
- Support development of verification test methods aligned with product requirements and risk controls
- Assist in designing, building, and validating test fixtures and setups for functional, performance, and reliability testing
- Execute verification testing and document results in accordance with quality system procedures
- Analyze test data with statistical methods, and summarize findings in clear, concise reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional NPD teams to troubleshoot issues and refine test approaches
- Contribute to design reviews by providing test strategy input
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485) and internal quality procedures

Requirements:
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
- Incoming Junior or Senior preferred
- Work location: Pleasanton, CA

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Compliance with relevant county, state, and Federal rules regarding vaccinations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with laboratory testing or instrumentation
- Exposure to CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo)
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Minitab)
- Understanding of design controls and medical device regulatory frameworks
