About this role
Markon is seeking a System Integration Engineer to support the Fort Meade customer by integrating, deploying, and sustaining mission-critical hardware and software systems across laboratory and operational environments. This role supports system installation, software integration, testing, and configuration activities while ensuring reliable operation of Linux and Windows platforms. Working closely with software developers, systems engineers, and mission stakeholders, the System Integration Engineer supports the full system lifecycle from integration and deployment through operational sustainment and field support.
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Linux and Windows operating systems and enterprise software applications.
- Support system integration, testing, staging, and deployment of mission hardware and software systems.
- Build and maintain development, integration, and test environments supporting software releases and system upgrades.
- Perform hardware installation, equipment racking, stacking, cabling, and system integration in laboratory and field environments.
- Create and maintain software baselines, configuration files, and deployment packages for system installations and upgrades.
- Provide Tier III technical support by diagnosing and resolving complex system, software, and infrastructure issues.
- Collaborate with software developers and systems engineers to support software integration, testing, and field deployments.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for system installations, upgrades, sustainment activities, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Troubleshoot enterprise IT systems to ensure system availability, reliability, and operational performance.
- Travel to customer sites to support system installation, integration, maintenance, and operational support activities.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
- Active IAT Level II (DoD 8570/8140 compliant) certification (e.g., Security+).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline and 4+ years of experience as a software integrator, system administrator, systems engineer, or tester supporting programs of similar scope and complexity. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
- Experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience supporting system integration, software deployment, testing, and configuration management.
- Experience troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and enterprise IT systems.
- Foundation in Docker, Kubernetes, and VMware vSphere.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel in support of customer mission requirements.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and perform hardware installation activities, including racking, stacking, and cabling.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Ansible or other automation and configuration management tools.
- Experience supporting software development, laboratory integration, and field deployment activities.
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense mission systems.
- Experience with DevSecOps practices and containerized application environments.
