What you will do:

You will conduct complex examinations of Corporate, Fiduciary, and Partnership tax returns. You will proactively identify and resolve discrepancies, educate taxpayers, and provide exceptional customer service contributing to taxpayer compliance.

Primary job duties include: 

  • Reviewing C and S Corporations, Electric Co-Operatives, Public Utility, Bank, Savings & Loan, Partnership, Eleemosynary, and Fiduciary tax returns for accuracy and compliance with SC laws
  • Examining refund claims, carry-forwards, extensions, return amendments, and tax or license fee computations
  • Providing professional customer service to taxpayers and other departments via phone, email, and written correspondence
  • Analyzing accounts, annotating updates, and resolving balance due or payment discrepancies
  • Conducting withholding verification and tax credit reviews 

Position Duties

Either:

  1. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses (Transcripts required. Attach to application or email to [email protected].) OR
  2. An associate’s degree and experience in accounting, finance, insurance, or tax preparation/analysis 
  3. Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)


Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Twelve semester hours in accounting, audit, or other business-related subjects
  • Basic knowledge of SC tax laws and forms and on-line computer systems
