The Department of Revenue, Tax Division is recruiting for a Tax Technician 1/2/3 in Anchorage! 

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.


What You Will Be Doing:


  • Examine gaming financial statements, tax returns, license and permit applications, and bonding documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide customer service by assisting taxpayers, permittees, and licensees with filing requirements, online portal questions, and general inquiries.
  • Process and reconcile cash deposits, prepare deposit documentation, and ensure accurate recording in division systems.
  • Support program operations by reviewing incoming documents, issuing permits and notices, and assisting with corrections and routine compliance actions.
  • Contribute to consistent program administration by applying policies, identifying issues, and referring complex questions or filings to senior staff when needed.

As a Tax Technician, you help ensure accurate filings, fair program administration, and smooth operations for taxpayers, permittees, and licensees. You’ll join a small, busy, team-oriented group in Excise that values accuracy, communication, collaboration, and strong customer service.
