Job Description:

Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Seattle WA | 2026–2027 School Year

Ampersand Therapy is hiring an itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026–2027 school year in the Seattle WA area. We are a women- and therapist-founded company committed to creating a supportive employment experience for school-based professionals. Join our team and help students with visual impairments access their education and build greater independence.

Job Highlights:

  • Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired

  • Setting: In-person and school-based

  • Schedule: Full time, approximately 8:00 AM–3:30 PM

  • Maximum Hours: Up to 40 hours per week

  • Dates: August 27, 2026–June 19, 2027

  • Grade Levels: All grade levels

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired

  • Assess students’ functional vision and learning-media needs

  • Support instruction in the Expanded Core Curriculum

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs

  • Adapt instructional materials and recommend appropriate assistive technology

  • Collaborate with teachers, families, related service providers, and school teams

  • Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation

  • Travel between assigned school sites as needed

Qualifications:

  • Valid state teaching credential with an endorsement in visual impairments

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in special education, visual impairments, or a related field

  • Experience working with school-aged students preferred

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
