About this role
The MAI Monetization organization builds the systems and experiences that monetize Microsoft's AI products and platforms — spanning Copilot, Bing, Edge, and Microsoft Advertising. We design monetization experiences that grow user engagement while delivering durable business value to advertisers, publishers, and ecosystem partners. Advertising sits at the center of this work: it is where user intent, marketplace economics, and large-scale AI systems meet.
We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive execution of our Ads monetization programs. This is a hands-on, product-development-oriented TPM role — not a purely operational one. You will be the execution leader who turns product intent into shipped, measurable outcomes across ad delivery, targeting and bidding, ranking, and whole-page monetization. You will partner daily with Engineering, Product, Data Science, Design, Finance, and partner teams to move fast with rigor, unblock dependencies, and connect technical work to revenue and user-experience impact.
This role is a solid fit for someone who is deeply engaged with implementation details, thrives close to the engineering team, and wants to own delivery predictability and quality for a focused set of high-impact Ads programs.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Program execution & delivery
- Own end-to-end delivery of Ads monetization programs — from product intent through flighting, launch, and post-launch measurement — with clear accountability for timelines, quality, and business outcomes.
- Build and maintain delivery plans, schedules, and operating rhythms (standups, program reviews, launch/readiness reviews) that keep a focused set of teams aligned and predictable.
- Drive execution against revenue goals and release commitments; keep programs on track by proactively surfacing and closing gaps.
- Technical alignment
- Bridge product intent and engineering execution: partner on feasibility assessments, translate PRDs into execution plans and engineering requirements (ERDs), and ensure downstream teams have the specifications they need.
- Provide context for architecture and technical trade-off decisions across ad delivery, targeting/bidding, ranking, ad serving, and SERP/whole-page monetization surfaces.
- Cross-functional coordination
- Identify dependencies early and manage them across Engineering, Product, UX, Data Science, MSA, PMM, Compliance, and Operations.
- Resolve trade-offs, drive conflict to resolution, and manage the flow of information so decisions get made and execution stays unblocked.
- Experimentation, data & reporting
- Partner with Product and Data Science to run A/B tests and experiments, validate monetization hypotheses, measure incremental revenue and user-experience impact, and use results to drive prioritization.
- Define success indicators with partner teams; track program health and launch/post-launch metrics; maintain dashboards and reporting that give stakeholders clear visibility and early risk signals.
- Operational excellence
- Drive delivery discipline through documentation rigor, readiness reviews, and consistent execution frameworks.
- Coordinate privacy, security, and compliance readiness for monetization launches, and support budget/financial reporting where needed.
- Communication & stakeholder management
- Communicate proactively and escalate risk early; facilitate alignment discussions and keep stakeholders current with clear, action-oriented updates.
- Build alignment among engineering and product leaders across Ads, Search, and partner teams.
- AI-enabled execution
- Use AI/coding tools to build lightweight prototypes and technical artifacts (e.g., sequence diagrams, schemas, sample API calls) that validate assumptions and accelerate solution exploration before engineering commitment — improving clarity without compromising quality or governance.
- Embody our Culture and Values
