About this role

Description

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ML network delivery, driving innovation that impacts millions of AWS customers worldwide? Would you like to lead high-impact programs that transform how machine learning networks get deployed at scale, while collaborating with brilliant minds across engineering, infrastructure, and business teams?

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team is looking for a Technical Program Manager. As a Technical Program Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams to drive the delivery of complex network solutions, from inception through design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

AWS Network Fabric Engineering is focused on building Data Centers and the network that allows Data Centers to function efficiently. We own the solutions that allow racks to be aggregated and Data Centers to be interconnected. Core Networking's goal is to balance efficiency, performance and reliability to allow customers access to their applications and data.

Key job responsibilities

- Partners effectively with technical managers to secure resources, scope engineering efforts, set project priorities, and drive delivery to meet program goals.
- Takes ownership of program communication, schedule management, and risk mitigation while accelerating progress through timely decision-making and blocker removal.
- Maintains deep understanding of both business context and technical requirements to make appropriate trade-offs in program execution.
- Manages end-to-end project lifecycle including roll-out processes, test and deployment plans, and post-launch support activities.
- Drives improvements in project and cross-team process efficiency while incorporating system quality and operational excellence improvements.

A day in the life
In this role, you will own the planning, deployment, and decommissioning of AWS's ML network — the infrastructure that ensures our customers have the right compute capacity, in the right locations, at the right time to meet accelerating demand for machine learning workloads. You will partner across infrastructure, supply chain, finance, and software organizations to deliver ML network at scale, from initial capacity planning through rack turn-up to end-of-life removal.

About the team
AWS Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) owns data center network services that provide unconstrained connectivity to our customers, such as EC2, EBS, S3 and Amazon CDO Services. They own the networks internal to the data centers end to end, including scaling and operational functions, for both traditional data centers. They also own newer AWS offerings such as Outposts and Local Zones.
