Technical Specialist
Serve as an active team member of the Technology Department. Assist in managing end-user support for the technology operations of a growing school corporation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in PC maintenance and repair

General knowledge of network fundamentals

Summary
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct basic hardware repair as it relates to student and staff devices.

Perform end-user support for desktop computers, tablets, laptops, projectors, document cameras, copiers, A/V, and interactive whiteboards.

Provide support for hardware, software, infrastructure, and end users in multiple buildings.

Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and diagnose technological problems.
-
Categorize, prioritize, and resolve a variety of technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
-
Ability to upgrade and replace technology equipment, software, and supplies.
-
Experience in software support and installation.
-
Establish a customer-driven technical support environment.
-
Manage hardware inventory for various locations.
-
Monitor and maintain problem status/resolution information in a trouble ticket system.
-
General troubleshooting of VoIP telephones.
DESIRED SKILL SET:

Post-secondary education and/or technical certifications.

Demonstrated attention to detail and high-level of organizational skills.

The ability to communicate effectively both orally (in groups and one-on-one) and in writing.

Knowledge of instructional technology in educational settings including Google Apps for Education.

Ability and willingness to learn new systems and technology.

Experience in planning and/or assisting in planning special projects, and meeting prescribed deadlines.

Ability to work closely with team members as well as independently.

Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, and the school community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The ability to set priorities without direct supervision.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate various technological equipment. The use of arms, hands, or finger dexterity may be needed to operate such equipment. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community with an awareness of all district policies.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and staff in addition to managing multiple concurrent support demands.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. may be required for equipment such as printers, computers, and monitors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to withstand long term use of Video Display Terminals is required. The employee is regularly put in situations where the ability to develop a rapport with the staff is important to help decrease the amount of stress staff may be feeling about equipment failure.
