Description of Job

This Driver License Technician II position is a fully functioning technician in a driver's license office.  


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Qualifying applicants for a Colorado driver's license or Colorado I.D. card by determining applicants needs and eligibility;

  • Reviewing documentation submitted for authenticity;

  • Administering written and physical exams to determine eligibility for driver licenses;

  • Providing information to the public concerning Departmental procedures and policies;

  • Verifying eligibility and process reinstatements;

  • Dispensing and grading examinations for all classes of licenses, administer oral examinations or automated testing for commercial license, if required;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must meet one of the following or any combination of experience/education to meet the qualifications:

OPTION 1:

  • Two years of work experience in a high volume customer service environment.  At least part of the experience must have included time as a Technician I level within Driver License and all applicants must have successfully passed all required Driver License Fundamentals (DLF).

OR


OPTION 2:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Political Science, or similar field may substitute for up to four years of the required experience in a high volume customer service environment .

  • At least part of the experience must have included time as a Technician I level within Driver License and all applicants must have successfully passed all required Driver License Fundamentals (DLF). 


Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will possess previous experience in a high volume customer service environment; excellent customer service skills; efficient typing skills and speed; and proficiency using Word and Excel. 

Conditions of Employment with the CDOR:

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence. 

As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
