About this role

Program Overview

The Technology Intern Program is a 10‑week immersive experience that gives students hands‑on exposure to real delivery work in a modern financial technology organization. Interns work as part of a collaborative cohort focused on building and delivering a functional product using Texas Capital’s agile, engineering, and cyber standards.

Throughout the summer, interns will:

  • Participate in agile sprints, standups, demos, and retrospectives
  • Receive training in Financial Services 101, engineering standards, and our technology ecosystem
  • Work with a Buddy for mentorship and support
  • Engage with senior leaders across Technology
  • Deliver a final Product and present to Technology Leadership and then see it get implemented into Production.

All interns collaborate on the same core initiative but pursue learning aligned to Product, Engineering, or Cyber pathways.

Areas of Focus

During the application process, you will select your preferred pathway. All pathways participate in the shared project, but responsibilities will vary.

Product

Ideal for students who enjoy problem‑solving and turning business needs into technology solutions.

You will:

  • Capture user needs and transform them into user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Support backlog refinement, prioritization, and sprint planning
  • Validate delivered functionality and contribute to product demos
  • Assist with strategy and storytelling for the final presentation

Engineering (Software + Platform)

Ideal for students who want to build, automate, and deliver technology.

Software Engineering:
  • Implement features and participate in code reviews
  • Develop unit/integration tests following engineering standards
  • Build observability components (logs, metrics, dashboards)
Platform Engineering:
  • Configure platform workflows, integrations, and automation
  • Implement monitoring and alerting using enterprise tools
  • Support KB updates and problem‑record analysis when issues occur

Cyber

Ideal for students focused on securing systems, data, and user access.

You will:

  • Support authentication, authorization, logging, and identity requirements
  • Contribute to threat modeling, secure coding checks, and control validation
  • Analyze security telemetry using observability tools
  • Update documentation, KB content, and security artifacts

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with expected graduation between December 2026 and June 2028
  • Possess basic knowledge of and a genuine interest in building technology that enables and improves financial services and operational excellence within financial institutions
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in extracurricular activities
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and concepts
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications (Engineering pathways)

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, C#, JavaScript)
  • Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
