About the Department
**The Department is seeking an individual willing to work a flexible schedule between 20 to 25 hours per week. This is a part-time, temporary position. As such, the individual in this position is not eligible for insurance coverage and will not accrue paid leave or receive paid time off on holidays. **

Established in 1974, SCDCA is charged with protecting consumers from inequities in the marketplace through advocacy, mediation, enforcement, and education. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE
Under general supervision, the Administrative Specialist is responsible for performing administrative duties in support of the Consumer Services Division.
DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES
- Administrative Duties: Review and input consumer complaints received by mail, redacting personal identifying information as necessary. Prepare and mail complaint and business forms associated with the complaint process. Assist Complaint Analysts with daily administrative support duties associated with the processing of complaints.
- Phones and Reporting: Contact consumers and/or businesses to confirm up-to-date contact information for the online complaint system. Assist with incoming calls from consumers and businesses. Serve as back-up to the receptionist as directed answering a multi-line switchboard for the agency. Track calls for monthly productivity reports.
- Processing Division Mail: Assist as needed with sorting, opening and distributing mail according to established mail procedures. Responsible for monitoring the division's document email box and scanning and saving emails from external contacts to appropriate folders for review.
- Other: Promote a positive customer service mindset to surpass the expectations of our internal and external clients. Contribute to individual quality and productivity goals by meeting standards focused on fulfillment of organizational turnaround time expectations, accuracy and security. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Duties
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Exceptional data entry and keyboard experience.
- Ability to handle multi-line phone and multi-task.
- Must be extremely adaptable and able to follow a task or directive through, despite unfamiliarity with task at hand.
- Professional demeanor and attitude including dress, timeliness, and dependability.
- Must be able to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and deal courteously with the general public and staff.
- The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer.
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year of relevant experience in administrative support or a customer service-based role.
- Ability to learn, organize and present written information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as hardware devices such as scanners, copiers and fax machines.
