About this role
This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church. The incumbent performs daily receiving, warehousing, selecting, and shipping tasks. Incumbents replenish, audit, inventory, document, ship materials domestically and internationally, and/or deliver commodities. The incumbent uses heavy material handling equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, automatic strapping equipment, and so on. This position provides entry or training level warehousing experience in which the incumbent performs various receiving, stores, and/or shipping functions under close supervision.
Responsibilities
- Performs general material handling and warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, inventorying, shipping, and distributing materials and commodities.
- Picks orders and prepares pallets for shipment.
- Processes materials using postal manifest and metering equipment.
- Loads and unloads trucks and trailers.
- Reviews and interprets shipping documents to verify quantities and accuracy.
- Inspects incoming materials for damage and resolves discrepancies as needed.
- Prepares receiving, inventory, and shipping records.
- Records weight and dimensions of new items within the warehouse management system.
- Assists with maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Maintains required operational and maintenance records.
- Supports loading and unloading of 40-foot trailers for domestic and international shipments.
- Prepares pallets of assorted materials for worldwide distribution.
- Applies specialized knowledge to balance loads and optimize weight, space utilization, and distribution requirements.
- Performs duties of similar complexity and responsibility as assigned based on departmental needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic math and computer skills required.
- Previous warehouse, material handling, or related experience preferred.
- Experience operating motorized material handling equipment, including forklifts, preferred.
- Must be able to obtain Church forklift/material handling equipment certification within 6 weeks of hire.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Valid driver's license required when job duties include operating vehicles, with appropriate licensing for the vehicle(s) driven.
- Must be able to lift, move, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance from another person.
- Must be able to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps to store and retrieve materials.
- Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack carrying loads up to 2,500 pounds.
- Must be willing to attend training during the first year of employment to develop knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Demonstrates the physical capability and flexibility required to work in a warehouse and distribution environment.
