About This Position:
Help keep Louisiana moving safely and efficiently. In this leadership role, you'll oversee a team responsible for reviewing and issuing permits for oversized and overweight vehicle movements across the state. Every day brings new challenges as you evaluate complex routes, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, coordinate with law enforcement and construction personnel, and make decisions that protect Louisiana's roads, bridges, infrastructure, and traveling public. Position Duties
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:
- Lead Transportation Permit Operations – Supervise a team of Transportation Permits Supervisors, directing the review and issuance of oversized and overweight vehicle permits while ensuring compliance with state laws, regulations, and agency policies.
- Evaluate Complex Routing & Safety Decisions – Analyze challenging permit requests, approve specialized routes and vehicle configurations, coordinate travel through construction zones, and work with law enforcement and other agencies to protect public safety and Louisiana's transportation infrastructure.
- Provide Technical Leadership & Operational Support – Assist with developing policies and procedures, resolve complex permitting issues, communicate regulatory requirements to customers and stakeholders, maintain critical route and bridge data, and support 24/7 emergency permitting operations as needed.
Appointment Type: Promotional, open only to current permanent classified DOTD employees only.
Compensation: In addition to the salary associated with the AS615 pay level, this position offers premium compensation for on-call responsibilities and premium pay:
- $1.50/hour for designated on-call time.
- $3.00/hour premium pay for hours actually worked.
