RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day cash balances, including cash disbursements, overnight and short-term borrowing and investing. 
  • Prepare cash forecasts to predict liquidity needs. 
  • Manage bank accounts and optimize cash positioning. 
  • Act as a liaison with financial institutions and manage bank fees. 
  • Prepare, review and analyze financial and economic data related to project and investment decisions. 
  • Prepare and summarize data for internal (primarily) and external (occasionally) reports to the Board, rating agencies, regulators, investors and others. 
  • Provide assessment on the economic impacts of existing and proposed long-term financial plans and policies. 
  • Nature of work is complex and effective performance is required as work products are used by management in making decisions which impact company stakeholders. 
  • High degree of initiative to complete assigned duties is required, as well as a high level of organizational skills and the ability to perform duties under time constraints. 
  • Ability to ensure accuracy in banking transactions and compliance reporting.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, accounting or equivalent degree with applicable finance course work.
    • Candidates completing their degree by June 30th, 2026 will be considered.

  • No experience required

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employee's position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office. This position will report to Duluth, MN.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain productive internal and external relationships.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • The expected annual compensation range for this position is $54,000 - $67,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
