About the Department

Would you like to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families who are impacted by a substance use disorder? If so, complete and submit your application for the position of Treatment Section Chief (Drug and Alcohol Program Supervisor) within the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP's) Bureau of County Program Oversight. As a Treatment Section Chief, you will support DDAP's mission by planning and implementing strategies to enhance the provision of drug and alcohol case management and treatment services. This role offers meaningful challenges and opportunities to lead positive change.

Position Duties

This role oversees complex projects and guides strategic efforts within the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. It involves leadership, collaboration, and planning across multiple teams and stakeholders. As a Treatment Section Chief, you will perform the following duties:

  • Project Leadership: Guide planning, development, and implementation of multiple high-level initiatives
  • Team Supervision: Direct the work of Drug and Alcohol Program Analysts who manage key services and systems
  • Grant Oversight: Ensure compliance with grant requirements and monitor activities across funded programs
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with Single County Authorities and internal and external partners
  • Policy Analysis: Evaluate policies, procedures, and regulations to support program priorities
  • Committee Support: Represent the department on committees and coordinate their operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, two days a week in the office and for special events. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Drug and Alcohol Program Analyst; or
  • Three years of professional experience in social service and human development programs including two years of program planning, developing, and monitoring experience one of which must be in the drug and alcohol field; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training
