DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports claimants by collecting information, reviewing details, and helping process unemployment compensation claims. Work involves ensuring claims are handled accurately and in line with state requirements. As an Unemployment Compensation Claims Intake Interviewer, you will perform the following duties:
- Interview Claimants: Meet with individuals in person or by phone to process new, continued, or updated claims
- Process Information: Use computer programs to enter data, review records, and identify issues that affect eligibility
- Explain Requirements: Inform claimants of their rights and responsibilities under Pennsylvania unemployment law
- Review Documentation: Check forms and information from claimants and employers to ensure accuracy
- Resolve Questions: Contact claimants or employers to clarify details and support timely claims processing
- Maintain Records: Update claim files, prepare forms, and support follow-up actions as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are generally 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may be negotiable based on operational needs.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the required probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Unemployment Compensation Intake Interviewer Trainee (commonwealth title) program; or
- Three years of customer service or office support experience which includes two years of experience resolving customer impact issues; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training which includes two years of experience resolving customer impact issues.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.

Promotion Without Examination (PWOE):
- Class Restrictions for Promotion Without Examination Only - You must have or have held regular civil service status in one of the following classifications:
- Clerical Assistant 3
- Clerical Supervisor 1
- Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
- The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
- Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
- Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower classes by the posting closing date with no break in service.
