Duties

Assist workers of the various skilled trades at the project by performing individual tasks as directed by the journey level worker to whom assigned.,Operate hand and power tools, jackhammers, pavement breakers, chipping hammers, vibrators and grinders and construction equipment.,Operate, control, clean, and maintain a variety of heavy power equipment in a safe and efficient manner,Perform various routine tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the facility and be able to efficiently assist journey level workers by accomplishing sub-journey level work in the various skilled trades utilized at the project.,Perform clean-up tasks, return of materials and tools, reassembly of components, removal of temporary scaffolding, bracing, or other appendages necessitated by the work performed.,Assist with cleaning surfaces, parts, or assemblies by washing, sanding, scraping, wire brushing, sand blasting, steam cleaning, etc.,Disassemble uncomplicated units or parts as directed.,Erect pre-fabricated staging or scaffolding.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Utility Worker (TC-C) ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform the common tasks of a Utility Worker in an industrial setting. Assemble and pass tools; carry tools and equipment to work sites; assist with gathering materials and equipment needed for a job; use hand tools to complete tasks; and clean and store tools and equipment. Ability to work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Work requires frequent arm and leg movement to operate equipment; must frequently handle equipment and materials. Frequently lifts and carries equipment and supplies up to, and occasionally over 45 pounds. Work requires prolonged standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, pushing and kneeling. Is subject to strains from lifting and pulling heavy objects. Working Conditions: Work is done inside and outside. Inside work is often in dim, damp, cold areas. Outside work frequently requires exposure to hot sun and to bad weather. Discomfort is experienced while wearing protective clothing, shoes, respirators, goggles, gloves, or face masks. There is danger from falls when working at heights, i.e., on scaffolding and ladders; injury from use of power and hand tools, danger of electric shock, and danger of drowning. Is subject to cuts, bruises, and is exposed to noise, dust and fumes. Must wear appropriate safety equipment and protective clothing, and successfully complete and maintain all occupational health requirements.
