About this role

Essential Function 1: Leadership and Executive Management of Business and Administrative Operations.
  • Provides leadership for and oversees business and administrative operations, including financial and auxiliary services, human resources, facilities, grounds, safety and security, and information technology.
  • Ensures effective coordination and equitable delivery of business and administrative services at all CMI campuses and centers.
  • Serves as a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to institutional planning and decision-making.
  • Develops leadership capacity within administrative units, including succession planning in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Ensures that operational activities are aligned with institutional priorities, policies, and approved delegations of authority.
  • Demonstrates and promotes ethical leadership, accountability, and transparency in all business and administrative operations.

Essential Function 2: Financial Management, Reporting, and Fiscal Accountability
  • Directs and oversees all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and fund management.
  • Oversees the management, allocation, and reporting of institutional funds, including operating, maintenance, grant, and endowment funds, ensuring compliance with donor intent, funding restrictions, internal policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Ensures the timely, accurate, and complete preparation of financial statements and reports for internal use, external reporting, and audit requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP, GASB, donor requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains strong internal controls to safeguard College assets and ensure proper authorization and documentation of financial transactions.
  • Oversees audit processes, including preparation, coordination, and timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations.
  • Leads the development and monitoring of institutional budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and fiscal sustainability.
  • Ensures effective utilization of financial systems to support accurate reporting and informed decision-making.
  • Strengthens accounting practices and financial management capacity within the Business Office.
  • Ensures ethical stewardship of institutional funds and promotes transparency and accountability in all financial practices

Essential Function 3: Cross-Functional Collaboration for Strategic Planning and Program Delivery
  • Collaborates with Vice Presidents and College units to support the design, development, and implementation of strategic plans and institutional initiatives.
  • Supports the implementation of College administrative strategic goals and action plans.
  • Provides for the regular assessment and evaluation of all units under the authority of this office.
  • Ensures that administrative operations are aligned with institutional priorities, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements

Essential Function 4: Policy, Procedure, and Organizational Development
  • Leads the development, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices that support the mission and effective operation of the College.
  • Provides expert advice and counsel to the President on administrative operations, organizational structure, and governance matters.
  • Ensures consistent application and enforcement of approved policies and procedures across all administrative units.
  • Ensures that decisions and actions are within delegated authority and supported by appropriate documentation.

Essential Function 5: Strategic External Representation and Institutional Relations
  • Represents the College in external forums, partnerships, and engagements related to administrative and institutional matters.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Supports initiatives that strengthen collaboration and resource development for the College.

Essential Function 6: Sustainability Strategy and Resource Stewardship
  • Develops pilot projects for new, energy-efficient, and low-cost facilities.
  • Develops new and revised short-, mid-, and long-term plans, policies, and procedures based on sustainable principles.
  • Manages and continues to improve college-wide maintenance plans and operations.
