Chenega Services and Federal Solutions, LLC., a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for a Viral Pathogenesis Technical Support professional to support the Viral Pathogenesis Branch (VPB) with laboratory experiments and research activities conducted within BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratory environments. The position supports scientific studies involving viral pathogenesis, vaccine and therapeutic evaluation, cell culture, immunological testing, molecular assays, animal procedures, data collection, laboratory operations, and equipment maintenance. The incumbent assists with study execution, laboratory support activities, sample collection and processing, laboratory logistics, and research reporting while ensuring compliance with biosafety, laboratory, and operational requirements.

- Shall support 1-5 Non-human Primate studies and 10-20 rodent studies per year in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories.
- Perform inoculations with virus, vaccine, or applicable testing material, collect tissues for processing and conduct blood sample collection.
- Perform in vitro testing of candidate vaccines and therapeutic compounds against a variety of viruses.
- Prepare all necessary study materials for assigned experiments to include but not limited to preparing cell culture media, labeling tubes, and preparing paperwork.
- Perform immunological procedures including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western Blot assays.
- Perform basic cell culture, plaque assays (PA), plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT), PCR, and other assays to support NHP and rodent studies.
- Shall serve as a BSL-2 and BSL-3 mentor.
- Be responsible for assessing and maintaining laboratory supplies in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories. Shall assess supplies and ensure supplies are ordered or shall order supplies using GFEBs ordering system.
- Perform general laboratory maintenance duties, including but not limited to cleaning, preparation for inspections, and containment space monthly duties as assigned by the suite supervisor.
- Assist with annual conduct of Equipment Inventory Management in BSL-2 and BSL-3.
- Provide TPOC a Contractor Research Technical Report NLT the last day of each week

- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Typically requires three (3) to five (5) years of related laboratory experience consistent with a Laboratory Technician 3 labor category.
- CS-PRP enrollment is required and shall be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations.
- BPRP enrollment is required and shall be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations.
- Experience performing laboratory procedures, testing, research activities, and scientific support functions in virology, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, cell biology, or related scientific disciplines.
- Experience supporting laboratory experiments, scientific studies, and research protocol execution.
- Experience collecting, documenting, organizing, and maintaining laboratory and research data.
- Experience performing laboratory procedures in accordance with established SOPs, quality standards, and research requirements.
- Experience supporting laboratory operations, laboratory equipment, laboratory inventories, and biosafety requirements.
- Ability to work within BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratory environments.
- Ability to work with controlled substances and biological materials.
- Successfully pass background and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting viral pathogenesis, infectious disease, vaccine, or therapeutic research programs.
- Experience supporting Non-Human Primate (NHP) and rodent studies.
- Experience performing cell culture, plaque assays, plaque reduction neutralization testing (PRNT), PCR, ELISA, Western Blot, and related laboratory techniques.
- Experience supporting animal procedures including inoculations, tissue collection, and blood sample collection.
- Experience supporting laboratory operations in biocontainment laboratory environments.
- Experience maintaining laboratory inventories, supplies, and laboratory equipment.
- Experience serving as a laboratory mentor or assisting with laboratory training activities.
- Experience preparing technical reports, laboratory documentation, and research support materials.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of virology, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, cell culture, and laboratory research methodologies.
- Knowledge of ELISA, Western Blot, PCR, plaque assays, PRNT assays, and related laboratory testing techniques.
- Knowledge of laboratory biosafety procedures and biocontainment laboratory operations.
- Knowledge of laboratory maintenance procedures, inventory management, supply management, and equipment support activities.
- Knowledge of laboratory documentation, data collection, and technical reporting requirements.
- Ability to perform laboratory procedures and scientific protocols in accordance with established SOPs and research requirements.
- Ability to support NHP and rodent research studies and associated laboratory activities.
- Ability to prepare study materials, collect research samples, and support laboratory experiments.
- Ability to organize, maintain, and report scientific and laboratory data.
- Ability to mentor personnel on BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratory procedures and practices.
- Ability to communicate technical information and research support activities effectively.
