What will you do?
A day in the life of a Visual Learning Designer / Instructional Graphic Designer at VF looks a little like this.
You work within Global Learning and Leadership Development as part of the enterprise learning design team. You partner closely with Learning Experience Designers, facilitators, and program partners across global and regional teams. Your role focuses on translating learning intent into clear, consistent, and accessible visual design by creating templates, visual systems, and reusable assets that support understanding, navigation, and facilitation across enterprise learning experiences. This role reports to the Manager, Learning Experience Design.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
Enterprise Visual Design System
- Responsible for applying and maintaining the visual look and feel of learning materials across programs, platforms, and regions in alignment with established learning design standards.
- Ensure enterprise learning materials are visually coherent, clear, and easy to navigate so experiences feel connected and intentional.
Template Architecture & Reusable Assets
- Design and maintain learning‑specific templates, visual standards, and reusable asset libraries to support consistent, high‑quality learning design.
- Enable efficiency and scalability by making visual design standards easy for learning teams to use and apply.
Clarity, Accessibility & Cognitive Load Reduction
- Apply learning and accessibility standards to reduce cognitive load, improve comprehension, and support inclusive learning experiences.
- Ensure learning materials are readable, usable, and accessible across formats, audiences, and delivery contexts.
Design Partnership & Early Integration
- Partner closely with Learning Experience Designers during the design process to translate experience intent into clear and effective visual structure.
- Convert complex models, frameworks, and concepts into intuitive diagrams, layouts, and visual learning assets that support understanding and facilitation.
Sustained Visual Quality & Evolution
- Maintain and refine visual standards, templates, and assets over time based on learner, facilitator, and designer feedback.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the learning visual system to support evolving learning needs and platforms.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, especially a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia Design, or a related field, we are most interested in your 3+ years of experience and professional achievements.
- Strong visual design skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly through layout, hierarchy, and visual structure.
- Strong aesthetic sensibility with the ability to create learning materials that look polished, modern, and visually compelling.
- Experience designing learning materials that support understanding, navigation, and facilitation rather than visual polish alone.
- Ability to apply learning and accessibility standards to reduce cognitive load and support inclusive learning experiences.
- Skill in building and maintaining reusable templates, design systems, and asset libraries that enable consistency at scale.
- Proficient in using modern design and presentation tools to efficiently produce high‑quality learning assets across formats.
- Comfort partnering closely with Learning Experience Designers to translate learning intent into effective visual solutions.
- Strong attention to detail paired with the ability to work efficiently across multiple learning projects and timelines.
- Ability to receive and apply feedback constructively from designers, facilitators, and stakeholders.
- A collaborative mindset focused on enabling others to design and deliver high‑quality learning experiences.
