Westin Bonaventure - Engineer

This position is for a Utility Engineer:

Utility Engineers may be employed understanding that their primary duties will be the following:
a. Replacing guest room air conditioner filters
b. Replacing broken electrical face plates
c. Caulking guest room tubs
d. Re-gluing wall vinyl and re-gluing cove base (where no painters exist)
e. Tightening loose headboards
f. Replacing drapery hardware
g. Replacing clothes hooks and towel racks
h. Touch-up painting, light sanding and repair on furniture, stain-stick (where no
painters exist)
i. Evaluate out of order guest room TV’s and replacement of unit
j. Replacing toilet seats, caps and brackets
k. Changing light bulbs
l. Toilets - Plunging and hand-snaking (where no power tools are used)
m. Cleaning Engineering and equipment spaces so long as it is safe to do so
n. Performing general laborer’s work as assigned by the Director of Engineering,
Chief or Assistant Chief, such as loading, un-loading and moving material and
furniture moving
o. Guest room calls of a non-technical nature

KEY SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Technical & Preventive Maintenance Powerhouse: Take charge of daily inspections, repairs, and fine-tuning across our hotel’s plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and other systems—catching small issues before they become big ones. Perform preventive maintenance in guest rooms, common spaces, and on essential equipment (from refrigerators to ice machines), keeping everything running smoothly for an exceptional guest experience. Handle minor carpentry, painting, and furniture repairs to ensure our hotel remains both beautiful and fully operational.
• Quick-Fix Hero: Jump into action to solve equipment hiccups, leaks, and those mysterious electrical issues—no problem too puzzling! Tackle emergencies like fire alarms and power outages with cool confidence, always putting guest safety front and center.
• Safety Superpowers: Move objects over 50 lbs., scale ladders, and power through physically demanding tasks with strength and stamina. Follow OSHA safety guidelines when wielding tools, handling chemicals, and operating machinery—safety first, always! Keep work areas spotless and safe, with proper storage for tools and hazardous materials to protect everyone.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

•  High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in hotel maintenance or a related field preferred.
• Trade license (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) is highly desirable.
• Valid driver's license required, with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
