About this role
Job Summary:
The Yard Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance of yard equipment to support production and plant operations. This role requires adherence to all safety policies, proper equipment operation, routine inspections, and effective communication with team members to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate yard equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and report equipment issues or safety concerns.
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and adjustments to keep equipment in good working order.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding operations and safety.
- Work safely at heights when properly trained and authorized.
- Support production goals while maintaining equipment and operational standards.
Equipment Operated May Include:
- Forklifts
- Yard Tractors
- Front Loaders
- Four-Poster Cranes
- Other mobile and material handling equipment
Qualifications:
- Ability to safely operate industrial equipment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
- Ability to complete required equipment certifications and training.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Prior equipment operating experience preferred.
Preferred Leadership Skills:
- Advance operators may assist with training new operators.
- Lead safety discussions.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Serve as a safety champion within the facility.
