About this role

About the Department

  • Under limited supervision, supervises and directs assigned YOPRS staff and mentors by overseeing orientation, assessments, counseling services and individualized rehabilitative planning to ensure services are timely evidence-based, restorative in approach, and aligned with compliance and reintegration goals.

  • Oversees and facilitates the delivery of individual, group, family, and restorative counseling services and provides oversight of mentor-facilitated groups to ensure safety and quality consistent with YOPRS standards.

  • Conducts routine audits of case files, progress notes, and database entries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with policy and standards.

  • Reviews and validates release recommendations prepared by staff to ensure determinations are objective, properly documented, and supported. 

  • Participates in multidisciplinary staff meetings and completes required training and professional development to align services with youthful offender act requirements and standards.             

Must successfully complete four (4) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Position Duties

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant program experience.


SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social science and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
