Entry-level business analysts translate data into decisions. You might model unit economics for a product team, build dashboards for executives, or analyze operational efficiency for a supply chain. Titles include Business Analyst, Strategy Analyst, Operations Analyst, and Business Intelligence Analyst. Tech companies, consulting firms, banks, and healthcare companies all hire for these roles.
How to land a BA role out of school
SQL is non-negotiable. Learn it well. Beyond that, get comfortable with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic modeling) and at least one visualization tool like Tableau or Power BI. In interviews, show that you can take a vague business question and break it into something answerable with data. Case interview prep helps even outside of consulting. Communication skills matter as much as technical ones here.
