Deloitte Internships 2027: Programs, Pay and How to Apply

Deloitte runs internships on two tracks depending on your year in school. Discovery is built for first- and second-year students who aren't eligible for the standard junior-year internship yet. Client Services internships, the ones that actually staff real audit, tax and consulting engagements, are for juniors and recruit earlier than almost anywhere else in the job market.

What does Deloitte actually do?

Deloitte is one of the Big 4 professional services firms, providing audit and assurance, tax, consulting and risk advisory to corporations, governments and nonprofits around the world. It's the largest of the four by both revenue and headcount, which means the work varies enormously by service line: an audit intern's summer looks nothing like a strategy consulting intern's summer, even though both carry the same Deloitte name.

What does a Deloitte internship pay?

Deloitte hasn't published a single standard intern rate across every track. What we can point to is real data: live Summer 2027 Government & Public Services Summer Scholar postings on ApplyBolt's board list annualized pay from roughly $75,000 up to $103,000, with software engineering and AI and data engineering tracks sitting at the higher end and generalist business tracks lower. Pay depends on service line, office and role, so treat any single number as a range, not a promise.

What the interview process looks like

Deloitte's process generally runs through a few stages: an online application with a resume screen, a one-way video interview or phone screen focused on behavioral questions, then a final round with staff and a partner, either virtual or at a local office. Consulting-track candidates should expect case-style questions layered on top of the behavioral round. Audit and tax interviews stay mostly behavioral, testing for how you've handled deadlines, teamwork and ambiguity rather than technical accounting knowledge, since the firm assumes it can teach the technical side on the job.

Discovery interviews follow a similar shape but weigh potential more heavily than experience, since most applicants are first- or second-years without a prior internship to point to. Talking clearly about why you're drawn to a specific service line, and being able to explain what that group actually does day to day, tends to matter more than a packed resume at this stage.

How to actually get one

If you're a freshman or sophomore, Discovery is the door to walk through first. It's explicitly designed for underclassmen and gives you a real shot at converting to a junior-year Client Services internship without competing against students who already have a Big 4 summer under their belt. If you're a junior, apply directly to Client Services roles in the service line you want, and go to your school's Meet the Firms night if it runs one. Campus recruiting still drives a large share of Big 4 hiring.

For accounting-track applicants specifically, have a clear answer ready for how you'll reach the credit hours required for CPA eligibility, since Deloitte screens for that explicitly on Discovery postings. Because Deloitte's Client Services internships are widely treated as the main pipeline into full-time offers at the firm, a strong summer is worth more here than at companies where the internship and the full-time hiring process run mostly separate. Show up ready to work like a first-year staffer, not like a student passing through for the summer.
